In Search of... Lost Photograph

August 1, 2015

Back in 2003 or 2004, a photograph surfaced on eBay that pertained to the 18th New York. It was a magnificent photo of Company I, in what looks to be pretty late in their time, most likely 1863 due to the scaled back size of the company and the lack of initial issue SNY uniforms. I knew that if I was going to write the regimental history on the 18th, I needed to include this photograph, but unfortunately, the bid was too much for me to keep up with, and I had to let it go. I have not seen it since.

If anyone knows where this photograph resides, I would love to get permission to include it in my book, or unfortunately I will have to rely on an artist's rendering, which is just not the same for posterity's sake.

Below are images captured from the original auction.
