Using AI on old photographs

So I've always loved the new technology that keeps emerging that helps clean up old photographs. Many websites and apps now offer colorizing options, and even enhancements utilizing AI technology. So of course, I had to try some AI tech on some old 18th New York photographs, and I wasn't disappointed. I give you exhibit "A" which is a man from a company photograph of Company E. The original (shown first) is what it is at its best clarity and pixel level. Naturally, it's not clear and crisp, but it's the best 1861 offered. Now, run through some AI enhancements, the face that emerges is jaw-dropping. I was shocked. Pretty neat and thought worth sharing.

Imagine that mug coming at you with a bayonet on his musket, screaming, like their charge at Crampton's Gap!

Remarkable. What progam did you use for this? I want to try this on Civil War photos.
